Now enrolling for the updated 2026 SFJ Awards course — no final exam required when you train with UKPITA. We’re the only UK provider offering the latest syllabus.
These Terms and Conditions explain the basis upon which bookings are accepted by UK Professional Investigator Training Academy (“UKPITA”). By booking a place on one of our SFJ Awards courses, delegates agree to comply with these Terms.
A course place is confirmed once UKPITA has received a non-refundable deposit equal to 50% of the course fee.
The remaining balance must be paid in full no later than 24 days before the course start date. As UKPITA is required to commit to venue and course-related costs in advance, payment deadlines are important and must be strictly observed.
If the outstanding balance is not paid by the due date, UKPITA reserves the right to cancel the booking, retain the deposit and offer the place to another delegate.
UKPITA incurs staged costs in advance of course delivery and therefore operates the following cancellation policy.
Where a delegate cancels their place 46 days or more before the course start date, all monies paid will be refunded, subject to a £25 administration fee.
Where cancellation takes place between 45 days and 22 days before the course start date, the remaining balance will not be payable, however the deposit will not be refunded.
Where cancellation takes place 21 days or fewer before the course start date, the full course fee remains payable and no refund will be issued.
If course materials or textbooks have already been dispatched prior to cancellation, the cost of those materials may also be deducted from any refund due.
Delegates may request to transfer their booking to a future SFJ Awards course. Transfer requests must be made in writing and are subject to availability and UKPITA’s discretion. No administration fee will normally be charged for transfers.
UKPITA reserves the right to make reasonable changes to course content, trainers, structure or venue where necessary.
If UKPITA cancels or postpones a course, delegates will be offered either a transfer to an alternative date or a full refund of fees paid.
UKPITA cannot accept liability for any additional costs or losses incurred by delegates, including travel expenses, accommodation costs or loss of earnings.
Delegates are expected to behave professionally and respectfully throughout the course.
UKPITA reserves the right to remove any delegate whose behaviour is disruptive, unsafe or inappropriate. In such circumstances no refund will be issued.
Delegates are also responsible for complying with all health and safety instructions provided during the course and for ensuring they are fit and able to participate fully in the training.
The SFJ Awards Level 3 Award for Professional Investigators is a competency-based pass or fail qualification. Delegates are therefore responsible for completing and submitting their evidence portfolio within the agreed timescale following completion of the course.
In most cases, delegates will be given approximately two months after the course to complete their portfolio work. The exact submission deadline will be confirmed during the course itself.
Delegates are responsible for managing their own portfolio completion and ensuring work is submitted by the agreed deadline. Failure to do so may result in delays to assessment and certification and may require additional work, resubmission or re-enrolment at UKPITA’s discretion.
To support delegates following the course, UKPITA will provide up to a maximum of one hour of post-course assessor support per student. This support may be provided by email, telephone or video call and is intended to give reasonable guidance and feedback in relation to portfolio completion.
Any additional support required beyond this allowance may be chargeable.
Once a delegate submits their portfolio for assessment, UKPITA will assess the portfolio as submitted at that point in time against the qualification requirements and assessment criteria. Delegates should therefore ensure that the portfolio they submit represents their best and most complete evidence.
All submitted work must be the delegate’s own work. Certification is subject to successful completion of all qualification requirements and internal quality assurance processes.
UKPITA processes personal data in accordance with applicable UK data protection legislation.
All course materials remain the intellectual property of UKPITA and may not be copied, reproduced or distributed without prior written permission.
UKPITA’s total liability in relation to any course shall be limited to the total course fee paid by the delegate.
Nothing within these Terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
UKPITA shall not be liable for any failure or delay caused by circumstances outside its reasonable control, including severe weather, illness, venue closure, industrial action or government restrictions.
These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by the laws of England and Wales and any disputes shall fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
These terms explain how bookings for UKPITA Core Skills Workshops work. By booking a place on one of our workshops, you agree to these terms.
All workshop bookings must be made through our approved booking process. Unlike our accredited courses, full payment is required at the time of booking, and your place is only confirmed once those funds have been received and cleared.
We use third-party venues and commit to costs in advance, so all payments are treated as non-refundable except where these terms specifically allow otherwise. Payment deadlines are therefore strict, and time is of the essence.
Our cancellation policy reflects the costs we commit to before running each workshop.
If you cancel your place 46 days or more before the workshop date, you will receive a full refund, although an administrative fee will be deducted. If you cancel between 45 and 22 days before the workshop, you will receive a refund less the £25 administrative fee. If you cancel 21 days or fewer before the workshop date, no refund will be issued.
All time periods are calculated using calendar days before the scheduled workshop date.
Where a refund is issued, a £25 administrative fee will be deducted. If materials have already been sent to you, the cost of those materials will also be deducted from the refund. However, you will not be charged for postage or packaging.
If you are unable to attend, you may request to transfer your place to a future workshop. There is no administrative fee for transferring, but requests must be made in writing and are subject to availability and our reasonable discretion.
We reserve the right to make reasonable changes to any workshop where necessary. This may include adjustments to the content, structure, trainer, or venue.
If we need to cancel or postpone a workshop, you will be offered the choice of transferring to another available date or receiving a full refund of any fees paid. While we will always try to minimise disruption, we cannot accept responsibility for any additional costs you may incur, such as travel, accommodation, or loss of earnings.
We expect all delegates to behave in a professional and respectful manner throughout the workshop. You must follow any health and safety instructions provided and ensure that you are fit and able to participate.
If a delegate behaves in a way that is disruptive, unsafe, or inappropriate, we reserve the right to remove them from the workshop. In such cases, no refund will be given.
For Core Skills Workshops, certificates of completion may be issued following attendance. These are subject to full attendance and active participation during the workshop.
We process personal data in accordance with UK data protection laws. This means your information will be handled lawfully, fairly, and securely.
All materials provided during the workshop remain the property of UKPITA. They are supplied for your personal use only and must not be copied, shared, or reused without permission.
Nothing in these terms limits liability where it cannot legally be limited, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence or for fraud.
Otherwise, delegates attend workshops at their own risk. We are not responsible for loss or damage unless it is caused by our negligence. Our total liability in relation to any workshop is limited to the amount you have paid for that workshop, and we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss.
Events Outside Our Control
We are not responsible for delays or cancellations caused by events outside our control. Where possible, we will make reasonable efforts to reschedule the workshop.
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
